This talk will describe the speaker’s work around the world – in Africa, Asia, Central America and Latin America – with electronic services and cloud computing systems that deliver real value for the billions of people around the world who are disconnected from mainstream services by leveraging low-cost mobile handsets, ubiquitous telecommunications networks and properly architected electronic services. The author will discuss applications and systems in the healthcare, financial services, agricultural commodities, and many other global markets.
Dr. Sandeep Chatterjee was recently named Young Global Leader for 2011 by the World Economic Forum for his professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.
Chatterjee earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley, and Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). At MIT, Chatterjee’s research in mobile computer systems was selected as one of the most important inventions in computing, an honor he shares with Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, and Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, and his invention is preserved and showcased in a time capsule at the Museum of Science in Boston, Massachusetts. Chatterjee also attended Harvard University where he studied global leadership and business strategy, and completed the executive education program offered by Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government.
Chatterjee is a seasoned technology expert and business professional with over a decade of contributions as a thought leader, technologist, consultant, entrepreneur, and author. Chatterjee is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of SourceTrace Systems (www.sourcetrace.com), a leading mobile and enterprise services company that is focused on the financial services and emerging markets sectors. He is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shuv Gray, an intellectual property, litigation support and consulting company.
Chatterjee is co-author of “Developing Enterprise Web Services: An Architect's Guide", a book published by Pearson Education, as well as a columnist for mobile and enterprise software systems for a number of leading IT magazines. He was part of the Expert Group that specified the worldwide standard for mobile Web services.
Previously, Dr. Chatterjee was the chief architect of Hewlett-Packard’s Web Services Mediation Platform. He was also the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at FidelityCAPITAL, the venture capital arm of Fidelity Investments.
